A Brief History of The Situation

Recently, I've gotten some questions from different people regarding the when, where, how of The Situation because of the other The Situation's out there. This should clear it up.

When I launched this website in September 2007 at thesituation.us, I didn't think it would be prudent, let alone necessary, to specify that I've been working on The Situation since New Year's Day of 2003. It wasn't until later that year that the name 'The Situation' dawned on me as perfect for the web of reality I needed to build to sooth my borderline insanity. It was then that I first contacted the owner of thesituation.com, James Lee of Taiwan, to purchase it. The price was way higher than I could afford.

I continued to work, over then next years, at times with my friend Michael Marino on the story of our Apostles, our Exemplars, our Icons, though mostly by myself, inside myself, in the most secretive way that I could manage. Outlines turned into summaries, summaries into stories, scripts, musical information, artwork, and so on. I became a man who was pregnant. That's a situation in itself.

I continued to try to buy thesituation.com from James Lee. Sometime he would answer, sometimes I would barter, always I would fail.

Some people believe that becoming rich and famous and respected is a matter of luck. They always talk about things as if life were a lottery. "This is my chance!" "This is my big break!" And when one in a hundred of those people hits whatever lotto they were playing, it's just a matter of time before their luck runs out. I won't name names, because to do so would detract from their descent into obscurity.

Other people, myself included, believe that our success or failures in life are a result of how much time and energy we devote to learning to learn and improve ourselves and our craft. These kinds of people respond well to feedback, view every step of their journey as practice for their succession of ever-improving output, and talk about things in terms of hard work and destiny. Even after the revolution of Relativity, Einstein developed Quantum Physics and if there were ever proof of the truth, it is when he said, "God does not play dice with the universe!" Consider that even when the world was against him, Michael Jackson continued to produce the highest quality music of his career. It's been said that Pablo Picasso made genius in every medium he laid his hands to -- and he did not stop laying his hands to new mediums at any point in his life.

So for me, I knew that even when I opened my website at thesituation.us in 2007 as a compromise, that I was destined to get thesituation.com. I knew that my years of poverty and hard work would pay off when I finally begin released the maze of sight and sound and words and feeling that those of you who stay will come to know of as The Situation. Inevitably.

The worst compromise I made was my attempt at telling the story of The Further You Go... beginning on August 1, 2009 in a way that I did not feel congruent doing. Of course, if I hadn't, the most skeptical 3rd-parties would have wondered if I weren't a predecessor to Mike Sorrentino of "Jersey Shore". The perfection of this, a seemingly chance occurrance, as one of a series, parallel to the blood and sweat I've poured into The Situation, is how one can be certain that they are on the right path.

I owe a great debt to James Lee for finally meeting me at a price that I could afford in December 2009 for thesituation.com, and hope that his life is filled with the benefits of hard work and the riches that destiny have to offer.

More than finding this post informative, may you find in it the a seed that you need to see grow in the ways that your imagination desires and I hope that you're here come summer, when the seeds planted here begin to grow.
